The Children's Center at Burke Gilman Gardens

The Children’s Center at Burke Gilman Gardens (TCC) is a licensed, not for profit, inclusive childcare center and preschool program serving children ages 1-6.  The Center was built in the mid 1990’s and opened in August 1998 for the purpose of providing an early education program and childcare services for the Burke Gilman community. TCC provides priority services for currently enrolled families, residents of the Burke Gilman housing complex, families receiving tuition assistance and families with children who have been identified with special needs. We place no cap or limit on enrollment for families receiving childcare subsidies and offer additional temporary hardship scholarships for families in need.

Our Programs

We offer three programs/classrooms for the following age groups: toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-kindergarten children. Children are separated primarily by age in accordance with state licensing requirements, but consideration for the developmental levels of individual children is also given. Please note, children do not need to be walking to start at our program, nor do they need to be toilet-trained to enroll in any of our classrooms. All of our groups use The Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold assessment tool in the classrooms and provide a two-year curriculum and daily small group activities designed to meet the needs of our mixed age groups. Conferences are provided in the fall and spring, and there are ample opportunities for families to participate in our monthly classroom and program events and activities.
